Coaching High School Soccer: Uncover Techniques To Self-control

When it comes to coaching high school soccer, we must accept the fact that self-control is a choice just like confidence that players must make. In soccer coaching, it’s the relation between emotions and thoughts that concludes the self control strategies. It is a known fact that our emotional state influences our feelings and as a result of it, our performance is strengthened.

I’ll explain to you a 12 step strategy that’ll allow you to assist your players in learning the discipline of self-control. Nevertheless, it’s imperative that players agree to these steps after that are sure that it holds a lot of importance for them.

What’s more, the players should also be prepared to take full responsibility for the actions they take. The 12 steps are explained below.

1. Awareness: When coaching youth soccer, help players identify their weak points. Let them examine when, where, and why loss of control has occurred previously on field.

2. Understanding: Allow the players to make out the reason that affected their thinking in such a way that they lost their emotional stability.

3. Differences: Let the players recall situations in the past when they did and did not lost control. Let them gauge the difference in their attitudes, emotions, and behavior.

4. Problem: Make an attempt to identify the exact problem in coaching high school soccer. For example: A players may be feeling responsible of letting the entire team down because of his actions.

5. Belief: The players should be taught to raise their expectations for themselves with self-control as one of the traits. Persuade them that they can change.

6. Reinforcement: Behavior change is accelerated by reinforcement. Being a coach, you need to appreciate the good changes in the players to ensure that these remain forever.

7. Goals: Set a series of small goals for players that will lead them along the road to change. Assist the players in identifying the relationship between opinions, outlook, and actions.

8. Techniques: To maintain the confidence level, employ a set of behavioral practices. For example: Players must know which path to follow in a certain situation.

9. Plan: In football coaching, teach a planned and systematic way of chasing the goals to players.

10. Progress: Tell them to be patient. Let them know that improvement always comes in a series of ups and downs.

11. Setbacks: Teach the players on how to live with the setbacks that are unavoidable. So, the better is to use these to learn new ways to tackle these.

12. Remembrance: Last but an important point is to let the players identify the good reason behind the change. The players must always know that why and what are they doing. How important the change is for their future?

We all agree that a perfect performance state for a soccer player is that of a relaxed promptness. It means possessing energy without tension.

This should not be taken lightly. To teach the players in channelizing their energy in way that they are able to produce emotions to help them get rid of tension, include relaxation techniques in coaching high school soccer.
