Stock your College Dorm

If you’ve got a dorm room to stock and you aren’t sure where to start this article is for you. Here are a few suggestions:

First and foremost, make sure they have the basics, like linens for their beds, and a towel for showering. Make sure they have utensils and dishes, a pot, a pan, and whatever other cooking utensils needed for preparing meals. Also make sure that they have some quarters for the laundry machines and some laundry soap. Once the basics are taken care of, consider stocking their dorm room with the following items.

Food: Your college kid can never have too much food. So, get them plenty of non-perishable food items, such as popcorn, bags of chips, pretzels and nuts. Also, if they have a fridge or freezer, help them fill it with plenty of easy to eat, but healthy options. Yogurts, fresh produce, and high quality meats are going to keep them healthier and more focused on their studies.

School supplies: When stocking your child’s college dorm room, you can’t forget that they are in college. Extra ink cartridges and some printer paper. Notebook paper, highlighters and some pens. Help them stay organized with a binder or two, some folders and the like.

Electronics: When stocking your child’s dorm room, don’t forget that a computer, printer, television, and the other electronics you have at home may not be going with them, but will make their life more enjoyable and easier while they are in school. Providing a laptop or desktop computer will make their studies easier. Other electronics like a gaming system or an ipod would be nice, but not essential.

Entertainment: When your college student is bored at night, would you rather they watch a movie in their room with friends, or go out to the club? Help them have fun activities and entertainment options in their dorm room. Encourage fun and safe activities by stocking their rooms with music, movies and board games.

Toiletries: Stock your child’s dorm room with toiletries. Besides towels and washcloths, make sure they have tampons if they are a girl, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and razors. Also a few extra toothbrushes, some toothpaste, body wash and shaving-cream. All these items will help them keep their hygiene up without depleting their bank accounts.

If you stock your son or daughter up with these items and send them an occasional care package, you can rest assured they are eating okay and aren’t out getting into too much trouble because they are so bored and that they are taking care of the teeth you probably spent a fortune caring for and straightening!

College – Living In An Apartment

Finding a college apartment is one of those things that will kill the thrill of having to move to college. It is a tideous task and it comes with many strings attached. The worst being, sometimes you find the perfect apartment, but it is too far away from college or you find the perfect location which may be within walking distance to college, but the place is in really bad condition.

You know what? Even if your fate has been folling you around, if you ever find a college apartment in the perfect location, we advice you to grab the chance. If the building is stable and is equipped with basic facilities, decorating your college apartment will not be the hardest task on the planet.

If your college apartment is located in an old building which looks like it is haunted or that it will fall off the ground any minute, you should stop worrying about it. Remember, it is not worth the time and effort you will spend on renovating a whole complex! Instead, let s concentrate on interior decor.

First of all, you should change the colors on the walls to something vibrant and lively. Go ahead and choose your favorite colors, even if they are black and hot pink. A college apartment should hardly feel cozy and homey. Rather it should have  a fun to live  atmosphere and a vibrant energy that will keep you up and alive through all those sleepless nights you will be facing. So planning out a wall painting day with your friends would be a brilliant start.

Finding appropriate furniture is the second step. Furniture that look boring will not work at all. When you choose furniture, make sure they fit the space, look decent enough to keep you interested and serve your purpose. If there are only 3 people living in your college apartment, it is no point buying a 12 chairs and a huge table right?

Step number three; allow ample space inside your college apartment. There got to be ample space to walk around and relax in your college apartment. Therefore, buy only what is essential. Fancy stuff is good as long as they are small and easily movable. And the budget! You need to make sure that you don t over spend. So feel free to walk in to bargain shops and garage sales to find what you need.
